Updates....

I wish I could say we are making great progress toward baby step #1, but we're not.  Baby Step #1 If you don't already know is to come up with a $1000 emergency fund...anyway way you can.  So my goal was to start selling some stuff on Ebay to help out with that.  So far I've made about $175.00.  But unfortunately my "Emergency Fund" is still at a Whopping ZERO.  We keep having to use the money for necessities.  So, I've been looking for a JOB!  Ugh.  Something that fits around the school schedule, and where I would still be able to keep up with the house a bit.  And a job that pays more than $8 an hour (seems like not such an easy task here in our part of Texas.

So, this past week I found a VERY flexible job, w/ decent pay, 10-20 hours a week.  I can do early morning or evening, and I think I might be able to convince the owner to let me do some of it from home eventually.  I start a week from Monday.  I also have an interview for another part-time position that fits within my schedule on Tuesdays.  So we'll see.  I may just take both for a little while since Christmas is coming up and we need things for baby...and the whole Debt. thing.  We shall see.  We're praying God shows favor on us regarding Christmas bonus for My awesome hubby.  His new boss in known to be generous with Christmas bonuses even for new people...we're definately NOT counting on it, but we are HOPING.  :)

So we are basically still where we started, which could be discouraging if we allowed it to be, but the goal is there, and we are being REALLY careful with our spending.  Keeping track and trying to use cash.  So if you're discouraged...we are all in the same boat.  Did I mention we are getting rid of our Car (with the payment)  and we'll be getting a "beater" for Matt.  We're praying God leads us to a reliable beater. :)

Have you started a budget?  Have you figured out how much debt you are in?  Have you come up with any creative ideas on how to get out of debt?  What have you done differently?

We stopped using our bank cards and banks all together..for now. I realize this sounds radical but it has really helped. Cash in hand keeps you VERY MUCH accountable. I have also researched many ways to make dinners cheaper and healthier and have turned to actual lists to insure I ONLY purchase what I need at the store. This is the first month we will have an extra 100 dollars left.

My husband and I have found that when we step out in faith to do what we need to do, God comes through like crazy.

I know it seems hard to think about working, taking care of the family and house, etc. But this can be a great motivational tool, too. Just think... when you guys have paid off the debt, you can claim your life back!

Hey, girl... noticed no new posts here. Just thought I'd encourage you. It's hard, but it's worth it.

Are you guys still on the plan?

Are you guys still trucking along?

We're heading into the 3-6 months stage... baby step 3.

Just wanted to encourage y'all. It's so freeing when you have no payments!

Hi there! I found this website because you just commented on my blog. :) I just wanted to encourage you today...I hope you're still working on getting out of debt!!! I know it's SO hard (we've been working on Baby Step #1 for what feels like FOREVER!), but we know that being in debt is NOT God's perfect plan for our lives, so KEEP GOING! You can do it! Having Cash Envelopes has been a LIFESAVER for us. Period. If it weren't for the cash envelopes we would be in big trouble! It helped us build up our em. fund, only to have to dive into it again to fix the dryer, and then the lawn mower, and then replace the computer after it crashed and was irreparable...SIGH, but praise God that money was there or we wouldn't have been able to pay our bills!

Okay, I'm done with the WAY-TOO-LONG comment now. :)

Hi! Stopping in from SITS. We tried the Dave Ramsey deal, but didn't follow through with the lesson. How terrible are we? I hear that it's excellent. So, why don't we do it? Hope the job is working for ya.
